QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experienced topside cameraman; remote location assignments from Africa to the Arctic
  • Highly experienced underwater cameraman DoP, in excess of 2500 filming dives worldwide
  • First Aid and DAN 02 trained (Oxygen provider)
  • BSc and Dip in Marine science & Ecology – excellent applied knowledge of marine life, especially NZ marine species
  • Experienced & qualified Dive Supervisor for multi-day projects overseeing dive team safety and logistics in diverse locations
  • Nitrox certified
  • Poseidon closed-circuit rebreather trained
  • Experienced in use of Underwater comms/ full face masks
  • Holder of a 5-year renewable Marine Mammal Filming permit, valid to 2018, [only a few issued in NZ]
  • ILM Commercial skippers ticket
  • Experienced FCP editor and in all facets of HD post production
  • Competent producer
  • Experienced drone pilot

Topside shoot locations worked:

Dave has worked in Alaska, Norway, Canada, USA, Turkey, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Africa, Arctic [Svalbard], Outback Australia, Tasmania, throughout the Pacific and all over New Zealand. He has been on numerous remote-location shoots working as an OPC ‘one man crew’; and directed and shot solo an entire 9-episode TV series [‘Untamed’] filmed on location around the world over a 4-year period.

Underwater shoot locations worked:

Worldwide: Canada, Papua New Guinea, Palau, Yap, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Bali and Komodo, the Coral Sea, Barrier Reef, South Australia and Tasmania, Tahiti, Tonga, Fiji, Samoa, [mid]Pacific Ocean, and all over NZ from the Kermadecs to Stewart Island.
